German government partners the Creative Youth Initiative Against Corruption (CYIAC)

The Consulate of Federal Republic of Germany hosted the 2016 finalists of the EFCC-Creative Youth Initiative Against Corruption on Friday, 25th of November 2016.

The finalists had earlier made their presentation both in Literary and Painting form before live audience on the 18th of November 2016; the Exhibition of ‘My New Nigeria free from Corruption’ was privately opened during the event at the Consulate.

German Consul-General in Lagos, Mr. Ingo Herbert reiterated the importance of nurturing children’s innocence and creativity to build a corruption-free society. According to him "CYIAC initiative is about Nigeria and its future. Corruption creeps into a society when people accept it and fighting it has to start with the mindset that it is not acceptable. It is a good thing that Nigeria has demonstrated that corruption is not acceptable.” He said that the Geman Government will continue to support Creative Youth Initiative Against Corruption and Vision of the Child to promote creativity in Children and Youths.

According to the Project Director-Foluke Michael, the project was declared opened in Abuja on October 4, 2016 by the EFCC Chair, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, CYIaC is currently partnering with primary and secondary schools within Nigeria to identify talented children and youth with vision for a corruption- free Nigeria. Our aim is to inculcate in them, values that will make them grow into young responsible citizens. Their creativity will be showcased through various creative mediums; Painting, Drama, Writing, Reading, Singing, Information Technology and Inventions.”

The project will be rounded up at the Nigeria Stock Exchange, Stock Exchange House Lagos on December 1, the Nationwide Campaign against corruption will also be launched during the grand finale.

The CYIaC My New Nigeria Free from Corruption exhibition of will be opened formally at the Nigeria Stock Exchange by 2pm on the 1st of December 2016; the works will eventually be exhibited at different geopolitical zones in Nigeria within the next one year.
The CYIaC project is in partnership with the Consulate General of Federal Republic of Germany and Nigeria Stock Exchange, these organisations are committed to support CYIaC to lead change in Nigeria whilst promoting integrity and creative developments in children and youths.
